Summer Daze & Gnome-Sized Christmas Tree Skirt Mishaps (Yes, You Read That Right)

Summer Daze & Gnome-Sized Christmas Tree Skirt Mishaps (Yes, You Read That Right)

As June rolls in, you might think it's a bit early to be thinking about Christmas. But in the retail world, you have to plan ahead! In fact, I recently started brainstorming new Intertwined holiday designs and gifts back in April during a trip to Guatemala.

While I was there, I visited Ruth and Naomi, a wonderful cooperative workshop run by Juana and Diego. We sat down together to discuss and design new handwoven blankets, some festive Christmas ornaments, tree skirts, and other goodies for you all.

One of the exciting new items we're working on is a Christmas tree skirt made from the same beautiful cotton corte fabric used in our popular handvwoven blankets. Diego even had one of the talented artisans whip up a sample to show me – and let's just say, there was a bit of a miscommunication!

Tree Skirt Mistake

The skirt was supposed to be a grand 54 inches in diameter, perfect for a full-sized tree. Imagine my surprise when I saw a picture – it was more like 17 inches! While it might be the world's most adorable mini-tree skirt, it definitely wasn't what we had in mind.

This little mix-up got a good laugh out of me. It's a perfect example of the fun that comes with working across different languages and cultures at Intertwined. This little story is a reminder that mistakes happen. You can either let them get you down or embrace the humor and learn from them. Sometimes, a good laugh is all it takes!

On that note, I hope you have a fantastic weekend filled with laughter and joy, even if there are a few unexpected twists along the way.
