Artisan Everyday Bags for Markets, Errands & Daily Carry

Our artisan everyday bags are made for the beautifully ordinary parts of life: the farmer’s market, the school pickup line, a coffee date, a quick grocery run, or the daily “where did I put my keys?” shuffle.

This collection brings together handwoven Guatemalan textiles, vintage huipiles and cortes, natural nettle and hemp, Moroccan leather, and woven palm. Each bag is handcrafted by skilled artisans using materials with texture, history, and purpose—so your everyday carry feels anything but ordinary.

Soufiane (Morocco)

Soufiane is a leather artisan based in Marrakech, where he works alongside a small team to craft each bag by hand. From cutting the leather to stitching the final seams, every detail reflects years of skill and a deep respect for traditional Moroccan techniques.

Lorenzo (Guatemala)

Lorenzo leads a leather workshop in Guatemala, where he partners with local artisans to bring new life to vintage handwoven textiles. Each piece is thoughtfully constructed—honoring both the original textile and the craftsmanship that transforms it into something entirely new.

Questions to Help You Choose the Right Everyday Bag

How do I choose the right everyday bag?

Start with how you’ll use it most. If you want something hands-free, choose a crossbody or belt bag. If you need room for errands, books, or market finds, a tote, market basket, or bucket bag may be better. If you want something colorful and one-of-a-kind, look for a huipil or corte bag. If you prefer a more understated neutral, Moroccan leather or nettle and hemp may be a better fit.

What’s the difference between a huipil bag and a corte bag?

A huipil is a traditional Mayan blouse, often rich with intricate handwoven patterns, embroidery-like designs, and symbolism. A corte is a traditional Mayan skirt textile, often woven in stripes, checks, jaspe/ikat patterns, or regional designs. Both textiles can be transformed into beautiful bags, but huipil bags often feel more detailed and statement-making, while corte bags can feel bold and relaxed.

Which bags are best if I prefer neutrals?

Moroccan leather bags, woven palm baskets, and nettle and hemp bags are often the easiest to style with a neutral wardrobe. They bring texture and craftsmanship without a lot of color, which makes them especially versatile.

Which bags are best if I love color?

Huipil and corte bags are the joyful ones. Because they are made with vintage Guatemalan textiles, they often feature rich color, pattern, and woven detail that can make even a simple outfit feel more interesting.

Why do handmade artisan bags cost more than mass-produced bags?

Handmade bags take more time, skill, and care to create. Many of ours also use vintage or handwoven textiles, vegetable-tanned leather, and small-batch artisan production. The price reflects the materials, craftsmanship, and the fact that the artisans are paid for their work—not hidden inside a race-to-the-bottom supply chain.
