Introducing
Ruth & Naomi Cooperative
This sewing and weaving cooperative in Chichicastenango, Guatemala was founded to create steady income for women in the community, including widows of Guatemala’s civil war. Today, the cooperative’s skilled artisans help bring new life to vintage Mayan textiles — transforming handwoven jaspe cortes, huipiles, and other traditional fabrics into Intertwined’s blankets, pillows, table linens, aprons, and bags.
Their work is at the heart of many of our reimagined textile pieces: careful cutting, thoughtful placement of pattern, expert sewing, and beautiful finishing details like the embroidered randa seams on our cotton corte blankets. Each piece reflects both the artistry of the original weaver and the hands of the Ruth & Naomi artisans who help carry the textile’s story forward.
