Description

One-of-a-kind statement for your sofa or bed! Intertwined's gorgeous handmade throw pillow is sustainably made from pieces of a second-hand corte, a traditional handwoven skirt worn by Mayan women in Guatemala. The vintage fabric is sewn together in a patchwork pattern and overdyed blue by the talented artisans at Ruth and Naomi. The hemp fabric that completes the pillow is made in India by The Hemp Foundation, a non-profit that promotes alleviation of poverty through the cultivation of hemp in remote villages. Afghan refugee friends in North Carolina, bring it all together with their expert seamstress skills.

Handmade by Skilled Artisans

Designed for Meaningful Living
What Make Intertwined Products Special?

Intertwined is not simply a shop filled with handmade goods we found along the way (although we do have some of those, too). We design or co-design most of our products in close partnership with skilled artisan makers, combining traditional craft techniques with pieces that feel beautiful, useful, and at home in modern life.

Our artisan partners bring generations of knowledge—handweaving, glassblowing, leatherwork, embroidery, sewing, pottery, and more. We bring design ideas, product direction, and a deep respect for the materials, processes, and people behind each piece.

The result is a collection that feels distinctly Intertwined: handmade, story-rich, thoughtfully designed, and created through relationships—not mass production.

Care Instructions

We recommend dry cleaning your Wool Momo Blanket to preserve its size, texture, and heirloom quality.

These blankets are traditionally finished by soaking in natural volcanic hot springs, which helps bind the wool fibers and gives them their thick, dense, comforting feel. Because wool can continue to felt or shrink with heat, agitation, or sudden temperature changes, we do not recommend machine washing.

For everyday care, shake out gently, spot clean small areas with cool water and mild soap when needed, and air out occasionally. For deeper cleaning, take it to a trusted dry cleaner familiar with wool textiles.

Meet the Artisan

Ruth & Naomi

RUTH AND NAOMI is a sewing and crafts cooperative in Chichicastenango, Guatemala founded by local tailor and Methodist pastor, Diego Chicoj. The cooperative began as a way to provide a source of income to widows of Guatemala’s Civil War. Now, both men and women sew and weave tableware, pillows, and blankets. They also crochet bags and coasters.
