Bring refined elegance and rich heritage into your home with this beautifully framed Mayan textile—an heirloom-worthy piece that blends traditional artistry with timeless vintage design. The textile, sourced from a vintage Mayan faja (belt) handwoven in Guatemala, is thoughtfully finished by Afghan refugee artisans in Greensboro, NC.

This piece is double-matted to add depth and highlight the intricate weaving, then framed behind glass in a stunning vintage cream-colored frame adorned with subtle gold fleur-de-lis accents. The combination of soft cream, warm gold, and vibrant textile detail creates a look that feels both classic and deeply unique.

The finished artwork measures 23" x 16.25" and arrives wired and ready to hang—perfect for a hallway, living room, bedroom, or any space that deserves a meaningful, eye-catching statement piece.

More About the Artisan...

OUR AFGHAN FRIENDS arrived in Greensboro, North Carolina in 2021 from Afghanistan, fleeing the country as refugees when the Taliban resumed power. We cannot use their names because some family members remain in Afghanistan. In Greensboro, they have quickly adjusted to their new lives and have found various jobs to provide additional support to their family. They use their expert seamstress abilities to assemble Intertwined's mixed-textile handmade throw pillows, combining fabrics (vintage and new) from various countries with our signature hemp fabric. They also create our stunning handmade bags from upholstery fabric that would otherwise end up in the landfill.
