Description

Make a bold and meaningful statement in your home with our Hmong & Hemp Throw Pillows—extraordinary, one-of-a-kind pieces that blend traditional Hmong artistry from Vietnam with ethically sourced hemp from the Hemp Foundation in India. Each decorative pillow showcases a vintage, hand-embroidered, appliqued, and indigo-dyed batik panel that once formed part of a traditional Hmong baby carrier—a cultural textile rich in history, symbolism, and soul.

Lovingly handcrafted, these intricate baby carrier panels are often gifted by mothers to their daughters at weddings to symbolize the importance of family, fertility, and protection. These carriers cradle babies during daily routines while shielding them from both physical harm and spiritual danger through sacred symbols and motifs.

Now reimagined with care and respect, our Afghan artisan partners have transformed these textile treasures into heirloom-quality accent pillows—backed with natural hemp fabric from the Hemp Foundation. The result? A globally inspired, ethically made statement pillow that honors motherhood, resilience, and craftsmanship.

Perfect for boho interiors, global-inspired decor, or as a standout sofa or bed throw pillow, these artisan pieces bring warmth, heritage, and texture to your space.

Handmade Vintage

This product is made with handmade, upcycled fabric. We believe the minor imperfections associated with vintage fabric are part of the charm and uniqueness of the item. We do our best to take photos that accurately represent the true colors and worn nature of the handwoven fabric, but colors vary across monitors, and photos can’t highlight all aspects of a product.

Handmade by Skilled Artisans

Designed for Meaningful Living
What Make Intertwined Products Special?

Intertwined is not simply a shop filled with handmade goods we found along the way (although we do have some of those, too). We design or co-design most of our products in close partnership with skilled artisan makers, combining traditional craft techniques with pieces that feel beautiful, useful, and at home in modern life.

Our artisan partners bring generations of knowledge—handweaving, glassblowing, leatherwork, embroidery, sewing, pottery, and more. We bring design ideas, product direction, and a deep respect for the materials, processes, and people behind each piece.

The result is a collection that feels distinctly Intertwined: handmade, story-rich, thoughtfully designed, and created through relationships—not mass production.

Care Instructions

We recommend dry cleaning your Wool Momo Blanket to preserve its size, texture, and heirloom quality.

These blankets are traditionally finished by soaking in natural volcanic hot springs, which helps bind the wool fibers and gives them their thick, dense, comforting feel. Because wool can continue to felt or shrink with heat, agitation, or sudden temperature changes, we do not recommend machine washing.

For everyday care, shake out gently, spot clean small areas with cool water and mild soap when needed, and air out occasionally. For deeper cleaning, take it to a trusted dry cleaner familiar with wool textiles.

Meet the Artisan

Our Afghan Friends

OUR AFGHAN FRIENDS arrived in Greensboro, North Carolina in 2021 from Afghanistan, fleeing the country as refugees when the Taliban resumed power. We cannot use their names because some family members remain in Afghanistan. In Greensboro, they have quickly adjusted to their new lives and have found various jobs to provide additional support to their family. They use their expert seamstress abilities to assemble Intertwined's mixed-textile handmade throw pillows, combining fabrics (vintage and new) from various countries. They also frame our vintage textiles and assist with the production of the Huipil Christmas Trees.
