Add a bold and meaningful touch to your home with our Huipil & Hemp Throw Pillow Covers—unique, handmade pieces that blend global craftsmanship with timeless style. Each decorative pillow cover features a vibrant panel from a vintage Guatemalan huipil—the traditional, handwoven blouse worn by Mayan women—transformed into stunning accent pillows for your couch or bed.
The colorful huipil is paired with soft, sustainable hemp fabric from India, produced by The Hemp Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to alleviating rural poverty through hemp cultivation. And finally, each piece is sewn in North Carolina by Afghan refugee women rebuilding their lives through meaningful, dignified work.
Whether you’re looking for designer pillows, colorful throw pillows for your sofa, or decorative pillows for your bed, these one-of-a-kind pillow covers bring global artistry and ethical impact into your home. Pair or layer them with neutrals for a curated, eclectic look.

This product is made with handmade, upcycled fabric. We believe the minor imperfections associated with vintage fabric are part of the charm and uniqueness of the item. We do our best to take photos that accurately represent the true colors and worn nature of the handwoven fabric, but colors vary across monitors, and photos can’t highlight all aspects of a product.
Due to the handwoven nature of this item, the sizes may vary slightly.

More About the Artisan...
OUR AFGHAN FRIENDS arrived in Greensboro, North Carolina in 2021 from Afghanistan, fleeing the country as refugees when the Taliban resumed power. We cannot use their names because some family members remain in Afghanistan. In Greensboro, they have quickly adjusted to their new lives and have found various jobs to provide additional support to their family. They use their expert seamstress abilities to assemble Intertwined's mixed-textile handmade throw pillows, combining fabrics (vintage and new) from various countries with our signature hemp fabric. They also create our stunning handmade bags from upholstery fabric that would otherwise end up in the landfill.
